Fit for a Princess

You only turn one once!
December 2012 saw a party fit for my 'royal red Princess of Hearts'!
Family and friends joined us in this most special occasion which had my house transformed into a castle complete with red carpet entrance, royal red draping, gold tassels, red carnations and hearts!
After lunch guests feasted upon royal jelly, macaroons, lollies and many, many cupcakes!

As you may be getting to know DIY is so much fun for me and I had a royal ball making and decorating almost everything on the sweets buffet, from the royal jelly to the birthday cake!  (Although I can't take credit for the macaroons - I haven't quite mastered them yet!)
I also organised for the kiddies to get involved and had them stick coloured jewels onto their own gold cardboard crowns which saw little princes and princesses dancing around the castle.

Guest were treated to their very own goodie bags which included personalised 'thank you' chocolate bars and personalised 'princess' water bottles made by Memorable Sweets Candy Buffet.  They also made the gorgeous bunting which hung above the buffet and were able to match the graphics to the invitations... I love things to match!

The Princess wore: Dress by Babycake Vintage and handmade french lace crown custom made by Carnival Designs.
Queen Mummy wore: Zara lace top, Sportsgirl lace skirt, Belle Noel gold and swarovski earrings. Lovisa head piece.

Here's to the first of many birthdays!

P.S. I will never work with red fondant icing again! - What a mess!

Silk Notion

Silk is one of my favourtite fabrics to wear.
Although it can be expensive to purchase and maintain (i.e. dryclean only), you can be sure it will stay in your wardrobe for years to come.  It is timeless with an understated elegance and makes me feel feminine and sexy.

This stunning dress by Chalice is simply beautiful and one of my favourite silk pieces.
The soft blush colour means it can be worn day to night whether it's to a garden party, cocktail party or wedding!
I chose to accessorize with a few luxe jewellery pieces.
Gold necklace, earrings and bangles by Belle Noel.  Pearl and diamond ring by Bvglari.
Shoes from Zara - a simple point with metal heel detail - love.
